discovering deutschland

the day has come & gone & i am finally in deutschland with nick. not for long of course as nick has already planned our first adventure to amsterdam (we leave in approximately an hour). we are settling in quite nice and i have been busy unpacking and sleeping (and eating but who needed to mention that).

the trip over here was very easy and i'm not sure i can ever go back to being in economy class (thanks p66). having a seat that lays flat for nine hours may be the best thing that ever happened...as well as the unlimited food and wine. nick picked me up from the hamburg airport yesterday after i waited for my luggage for approximately an hour. seeing a girl try and maneuver 2 checked bags, 1 carryon, 1 duffle and a backpack by herself was probably quite amusing for the other people at the airport but i was not laughing. luckily i found a quarter in my pocket & was able to purchase a roller cart, this was after i struggled to figure out how to get it off the chain. by the grace of God both bags arrived though (yay for not losing anything)! nick took me to get pizza before i could even have a chance to breathe and i was able to somehow stay awake long enough to eat. after napping a few hours it was time to eat (again) and we had our first real meal together (where i was actually alive and mobile) at a portugese tapas restaurant. before we could eat, in true "nick johnson" fashion we had to go sight see a bit on the walk over. we passed a beautiful church called St. Michaels (see below for a picture) as well as some parts and other statues. although we had terrible service the food was phenomenal at the portugese place (picture below). we will definitely be going back.

as shocking as it may seem, i was asleep again by 9:30pm last night :)

today has been quite relaxing as i went on an adventure by myself this morning when nick was at work to buy a straightener, a chocolate croissant, and a coffee. the amount of bakeries is absurd and i apologize if i come back to america a bit plumb. currently i'm packing for our Amsterdam weekend... will have an update on Sunday or Monday on that. have a great weekend! until next time...

note: i must look German or look like i understand it because everyone has been talking to me in german yet the other Americans in English. nick keeps telling me it's because i cut my hair off...

another note: i already got a German phone number and do not have a my US one anymore. if you don't have my number yet & need it just email me! we can iMessage for free!
