celebrating friends & watching some fußball

Two weekends ago, our Hamburg pals threw our friend Jason a surprise birthday party. His birthday is in May but it was the only weekend he would be in Hamburg until then. Jason has never had a birthday party before so we had to go all out. The theme was super heroes *I clearly did not get the memo* Ok... not really I just did not have time to get an outfit due to our schedule recently. However, I got a paper mask to try and fit in :) the girls put on Spice Girls and danced the night away! It was so much fun. Some of Jason's friends had blown up what seemed to be a thousand balloons and placed them all along the ceiling in the apartment. It was such a thoughtful party and I hope Jason had as much fun as everyone else did!
the hamburg crew!
clearly the next Spice Girls
birthday boy!!!

On Sunday morning after Jason's party we woke up bright & early and headed down to Dortmund for the Hamburger SV vs. Dortmund match. We were on the second to last row of the entire stadium and STILL paid a ton for the seats. Every game here is sold out. Dortmund is the second best team in the Bundesliga right now and clearly they have some dedicated fans. It was such an exciting atmosphere even though HSV lost (obviously). After the match, Nick headed back to Hamburg and I stayed down in Bochum for work. I snapped a few pictures of the sunset in Bochum from my hotel room while working and I will say it was a very pretty sight!

largest seesaw ever..
Dortmund stadium!
