obsessing over oslo

Oslo. Cold, crisp Olso. In November (yes this is two months late), we went to Oslo for a quick weekend trip. I flew from Berlin for an insanely low price and Nick met me from Hamburg. On Friday night, we hit up a pub for a while when we got in then went to sleep...prepping for the weekend!

On Saturday, we woke up and grabbed this amazing bagel at a place called Bagel & Juice. I had been craving bagels for some reason so this definitely hit the spot. The place had great smoothies as well. Then we headed out to the harbor and decided to take a fjord cruise. Well.. it was very very pretty because the skies opened up for a few hours but holy crap it was cold. I felt like I was about frozen to death by the end. The water in the fjord is this amazing, rich blue color. You can see a ton of pictures below. Luckily we headed into a warm museum afterwards. It was the Fram museum. This is a huge Arctic ship that was built strictly to be able to go through ice and drift with the huge glaciers. Very cool and you get to go inside the ship and all around it. I would highly recommend a stop at this museum. I even bought myself a real Norwegian wool beanie - if you've seen me the last few months you know what I'm talking about!! Afterwards we headed back into Oslo and went to a great burger joint that was called... Burger Joint! Great burger so I'd recommend it!

On Sunday, we woke up and hit up some more museums. Oslo is a meca full of museums. First stop was the Viking Ship Museum. This museum has three viking ships that are over 1000 years old. We spent a few hours exploring the area then walked down the road and checked out the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. It was a pretty weird museum as it was set up like a small community and had multiple buildings and pieces of it. There was this awesome small, old church that was moved from its original location. We snapped a few pictures in front of it then headed on our way. We walked past the National Theater which is a gorgeous building in downtown Oslo then went to the National Museum of Art, Architecture & Design. This is where a lot of famous paintings are held. The Scream by Edward Munch is here. After we finished off at the museum we kept exploring downtown Oslo for a while (it was 4pm and already dark!)...we went by the castle to see it by night, which was a great view. Then we were off to the airport!
