buzzing our way through bratislava

A few weeks ago Nick & I headed to Bratislava, Slovakia. Neither of us had ever been to Slovakia so we were not sure what to expect! It was a very chill city with a cute old town area and lots of yummy goulash! When we got in a Friday it was already pretty late so we went to a Monastic brewery called Klastorny Pivobar for bit then grabbed some grub. I got goulash (not surprising!) We then headed to a small wine bar next to our hotel and grabbed some shut eye.
love you Bratislava

On Saturday morning we woke up and walked around downtown for a bit. Then we headed to grab a bus to Devin castle. This is an old castle situated on top of a hill. The layout was a lot like the Moorish castles that we saw in Spain. We spent a few hours walking around and checking out the castle. When we walked back to the bottom of the hill we walked around a bit more next to the river. There were a ton of people out and it was great to see the culture in Slovakia. We headed back into town and did some more exploring. Then we went to the jazz festival in the evening. There was this awesome UK jazz band there called Go-Go Penguins. You should absolutely go check them out online and if they are ever near you I highly recommend!

On Sunday morning we decided to do the walking tour through Be Free Tours. It was a very informative tour! Our guide was so happy and proud to be a Slovakian which I found very cool. She showed us all the sights of the city. We saw the cutest statue of Cumil the Sewer Worker!!! It has become really famous in Bratislava! We checked out the Blue Church - it was so incredibly cool! Everything in the area was just blue, blue, blue! Afterwards we headed to the Old Town Hall and climbed up to the top for some incredible views of Bratislava + Bratislava Castle. It was a quick trip to Slovakia but it was fun to check out for a weekend and I'd recommend everyone to give it a whirl!
