loving on leipzig

On my last weekend in Germany before heading back to the States, Nick and I headed to Leipzig with three of our friends from Hamburg. It was a quick weekend getaway that was stacked with loads of glühwein, carnival food and laughter. On Saturday morning, we took an early train to get to Leipzig which is about 3 hours SE of Hamburg. We headed to the Leipziger Weihnachtsmarkt. The Christmas market in Leipzig was gorgeous. It was very large. Leipzig had a gorgeous sunset that night (see the picture below!). We had a fun dinner at a cuban restaurant that was delicious then headed back to the Christmas market at night.

absolutely insane

On Sunday, we woke up and had a delicious brunch at a place our friend Chloe found. Then we decided to just walk around for a bit around Leipzig before our train back to Hamburg. Leipzig was pretty. The government building was very ornate. Then we got to see the church where Johann Bach is buried. All in all a great quick weekend trip to check out some more Christmas markets. I would recommend Dresden over Leipzig if you are just looking to do one though. Also Dresden is closer to all the awesome hiking spots.
