vividly viewing vienna

Sooo, Nick and I found super cheap plane tickets to Vienna so we took the plunge to head there the weekend of March 11th. I fell in love automatically. After we stepped off the train, we saw the gorgeous StephansDom by night. We hit up this amazing restaurant called Figlmüller for some schnitzel. You have got to go check out this restaurant if you head to Vienna. Then we went to the wine bar. It was an overall great first night in Vienna.

the biggest schnitzel i've ever seen....

Saturday morning we headed to Hofburg Palace. Vienna is COVERED in palaces and amazing architecture. Words cannot express how gorgeous everything was. We headed to the Austrian Public Library & it seriously blew my mind. It was breathe-taking.  The architecture was exquisite. We headed to the Catholic church (Karlskirche). The church was truly gorgeous. You can take the elevator up about halfway to the top of the church and then some stairs to get even higher. You can see the paintings on the ceiling up close which is something I have never experienced before. It's the most interesting set up I have seen at a church. Afterwards, we of course had to get some grub. We ate some käsekrainer which is cheese-infused sausage. Nick is literally obsessed with this dish.... which is totally understandable since it is cheese & sausage haha. Two of his absolutely favorite things! I think he had quite a few when he was studying abroad in Europe in 2011. We then went to the Albertina art museum. I saw some absolutely amazing paintings. I am obsessed with Signac so I was absolutely awed by his painting that I saw there. To wrap up the day, we headed to a dinner where Nick ate his weight in ribs... (see picture below!)

Over Saturday night, my gorgeous, wonderful sister got engaged. I stayed up to hear the news and I am so so so thrilled for her and Kail. I cannot wait to have a brother and I just love them so much together! Nick and I were so sad we could not be there to celebrate. On Sunday morning, we headed to StephansDom and walked up to the top. Gorgeous views & you cannot believe this insane tile that is on the top of the church. It was such a different type of church than I have ever seen! We then headed to the Belvedere Palace. I just absolutely loved all the palaces. Vienna is truly a magnificent place and I really enjoyed the whole experience. If you have never been add it to your list! We also went to the Schönbrunn Palace afterwards. Although it was a bit grey in the sky, it was quite the gorgeous sight! There was also an Easter market out front that we checked out for awhile and Nick got himself a decorative egg to take home. Europe should does Easter and Christmas right. They are extremely obsessed with the holiday season! Nick and I truly loved Vienna! I cannot wait to go back again one day!
